SAN FRANCISCO – YouthTruth Student Survey has created a new Advisory Board to support its growing work harnessing student feedback to accelerate school improvement.
The Advisory Board includes seasoned leaders from the education and philanthropic sectors and represents a diversity of perspectives and experiences. Advisory Board members will help shape YouthTruth’s organizational agenda and guide planning on key issues such as growth strategy and research.
“I have been extremely impressed by the range of experiences and leadership of the Advisory Board members,” said YouthTruth Executive Director Jen Wilka. “I know they will bring valuable guidance, support, and advice to YouthTruth as we continue to scale our work amplifying student voice to inform school and district improvement efforts.”’
YouthTruth Student Survey Advisory Board members include: Fay Twersky (YouthTruth cofounder and Director, Effective Philanthropy Group, The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation), John Boyd (Superintendent, Quincy School District, Quincy WA), Ben Daley (Chief Academic Officer, High Tech High, San Diego CA), John Easton (Distinguished Senior Fellow, The Spencer Foundation), Kathy Gomez (Superintendent, Evergreen School District, San Jose CA), Crystal Hayling (Principal and Founder, C2 Projects and Former President and CEO, Blue Shield of California Foundation), David Ross (Chief Strategy Officer, Partnership for 21st Century Learning), and Georgeanne Warnock (Associate Superintendent for Educational Services, Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District, Carrollton TX).
“Too often, nonprofits and funders ignore the constituents who matter most – the intended beneficiaries of our work,” said Twersky. “I believe YouthTruth serves a critical need to systematically listen to and value the voices of students, and am delighted to serve as an advisor to this important work.”
The group will come together with YouthTruth leadership twice a year, with the first meeting to be held in San Francisco in September.
