How to drive educational equity with student voice data

Thank you for attending our webinar!
Student voices must be central to our approach to make our schools more equitable. Too often, we make decisions as education leaders without the voices of the people that we are trying to serve, our students – especially our low-income students, students of color, and other students who have been historically marginalized.

If you believe the old adage, “Nothing about us without us,” then please join us for a hands-on discussion that will help you better understand how to use student perception data to drive forward your equity work.

In this national webinar, we will:

  • Explore findings from student surveys administered across the country.
  • Share best practices for identifying inequities in student experiences.
  • Apply research-based protocols and practical tips for discussing and taking action to address inequities in your school system.

Jimmy Simpson, Jr. is a passionate advocate for education and social justice. As Manager of Partnerships, Jimmy’s experience as a teacher, curriculum developer, and facilitator are put to good use as he supports education leaders in using student and family feedback data to create more equitable and effective school systems.

Before joining YouthTruth, Jimmy brought environmental education to San Francisco’s public schools as an outdoor science teacher where he taught Kindergarten through 5th grade and helped create an NGSS-aligned science curriculum. Jimmy also offered coaching and professional development to science teachers throughout the Bay Area. He has served as an AmeriCorps and FEMA team manager to provide disaster relief services in New York, Maryland, and Missouri. Jimmy holds degrees in Environmental Studies and Anthropology from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and a Certificate of Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell.
